What we know, and why.

What we keep about you

Your email, your username, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We can’t read your password.

Whatever you put on your page: name, bio, location, picture, links, settings, and any images, music or video you upload. If you use coops, the coop details too.

If you link Discord: your Discord ID, and while it’s switched on, your public Discord status and what you’re listening to.

If you request an invite: your email, the name you asked for and anything you wrote in the “find me” box. We use it to decide on your request and to send you the invite. Email hello@romance.rip and we’ll delete it.

What we count about visitors

When someone opens a page we count a view, at most one per visitor every 30 minutes. To count unique visitors we use a code made from their connection details that changes every day. We don’t store IP addresses.

The page owner sees totals: views, unique visitors, link clicks, where visitors came from, their device type, and their country when our network provides it. They never see who a visitor is.

To stop abuse we briefly remember request counts per connection, in memory only.

Cookies and storage

A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in. A coop cookie remembers that you unlocked a coop on your device. Your browser also remembers your music volume.

No advertising or tracking cookies.

Emails we send

Confirming your address, resetting your password, and a welcome note. Optional ones: a weekly stats summary, a reminder if your page is empty, and announcements. Each has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch them off in Account.

Who else is involved

Our server is hosted with Spaceship, in the United States. Email goes through Resend. The Discord bot runs through Discord, which has its own privacy policy.

Pages load fonts and scripts from Google Fonts and public content networks, so those services can see a visitor’s IP address the way any website load does. If our bot is down, status for linked accounts may be fetched from a service called Lanyard, using only your Discord ID.

If you pay in crypto, we keep the order with your account: the amount, the coin and the transaction ID. Transactions are public on the blockchain by nature. We check them through public explorers (mempool.space, litecoinspace.org and Blockscout) and get prices from CoinGecko, and we send them nothing about you.

We don’t sell or rent your data. We may share it if the law requires.

Your choices

Edit or remove anything on your page whenever you like. Unlink Discord in Live. Turn emails off in Account.

Delete your account in Account and your page and account go away. If you want something removed that you can’t reach, email hello@romance.rip.

Age and safety

romance is for people 13 and older. We use HTTPS and keep passwords hashed, but no site is perfectly safe, so use a password you don’t use anywhere else.
